Two of my purple trees were replaced with shaggies; an obligatory river birch clump and a paperbark maple. After awhile, it was only an approximate plan.ProfessorRoushhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17827625019371233145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2891478286629018612.post-67362400212269796112013-05-22T17:04:59.348-05:002013-05-22T17:04:59.348-05:00Magnolias flower briefly, but they are spectacular...Magnolias flower briefly, but they are spectacular, aren't they?ProfessorRoushhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17827625019371233145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2891478286629018612.post-56473292591003826182013-05-22T17:00:13.737-05:002013-05-22T17:00:13.737-05:00haha - Thankfully, I bought my crabapples before t...haha - Thankfully, I bought my crabapples before the purple ones became popular. But - I think you may have just saved me from a shaggy bark infatuation that I've been thinking about acquiring! :)HolleyGardenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14892421871044249940noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2891478286629018612.post-36412419347397089842013-05-21T23:40:42.697-05:002013-05-21T23:40:42.697-05:00I am a very organised person, but when it comes to...I am a very organised person, but when it comes to my garden I buy plants I like and then I try to find a home for them afterwards. I had a red period some years ago, tried to make a central bed in my garden with only red flowering plants. It didn't go very well, as many plants labelled red were in different hues of pink/purple/orange and not exactly proper red. I have since moved plants around and the red plants are spread around the garden. At the moment I am crazy for magnolias. I have a tiny garden but just had to have not one, but two magnolias! Can't wait to see them in flower next year :-)HELENEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16112289914239038835noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2891478286629018612.post-1170995175979478632013-05-21T16:35:32.833-05:002013-05-21T16:35:32.833-05:00Purple leaves and purple flowers ... who breeds th...Purple leaves and purple flowers ... who breeds this stuff?

I'm a planner. I write lists, draw sketches, and plant according to string lines. It's at that point where things go awry. Each new bed or garden I design is an improvement over the previous ones, so at least I'm making progress. Or maybe I should say renovated the existing garden with a plan! Drawn on graph paper, no less. Only time will tell if my vision comes to pass. If not, I'll be going back to my impulsive planting ways! I've been pretty happy doing it that way for close to 30 years.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
