They are notoriously hard to get good shots of.<br /><br />I learned the meadowlark songs as: <br /><br />"Spring of the year" - rather plaintive and in a minor tone - Eastern Meadowlark<br /><br />"Kan sas is bu-u-tee-fulll!" - with the "beautiful" coming quickly and running together, altogether a more cheerful sounding song - Western Meadowlark<br /><br />I've heard occasional Westerns here, but we usually have Easterns. They seem to nest almost every year in the "Back 5".
