Makes a different kind of sense, since that's when the old garden is dying, and laying the groundwork for the new. Someone pointed out to me also that in a way, religions' beliefs about when the year starts are echoed in when they begin (or end) the day. Christianity, which is in essence a Roman invention, celebrates the new year at winter solstice, borrowing from the Roman holiday of Saturnalia, and its new day begins at midnight, the darkest part of the 24 hour period. Jews and Celts begin their day at sundown, in parallel with the aboveground fading of the natural world. Wonder about those Zoroastrians......Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15239798951473493987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2891478286629018612.post-76138188714445455742011-03-22T06:56:59.859-05:002011-03-22T06:56:59.859-05:00I love the Kansas sky photo. Luckily, I quit that game in my 20's and am content to leave the search up to slimey politicians and the younger generation.ProfessorRoushhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17827625019371233145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2891478286629018612.post-52705715047116707802011-03-21T16:50:20.970-05:002011-03-21T16:50:20.970-05:00Oh, this was a goodie.
