One of my favorite memories of my then-3-year-old daughter was her exclamation at pulling up to a nursery with me again. We are definitely a Type 3 couple - and for several years now, I've been trying to find a spot (on our tiny 10 acre lot) for a crepe myrtle, because Greg learned to really love them while we lived in Mobile. I have tried to grow one. Really, I have. Three times I have planted one, but all three times it died. The first died because of a bad cold spell during the winter before it had truly established. The last two died because I wasn't good enough about watering them during our last 2 summers from hell. I've decided that the vibes I'm giving off are definitely toxic to this species, so if Greg wants one, he'll have to plant and nurture it himself. That's my story - and I'm sticking to it. Trips to the nursery are to be enjoyed in the company of garden friends/enablers, and supposed to be filled with statements like, "You HAVE to buy this" or "that would be perfect in XXX spot in your garden".

Count me in Category #3 ... though my dear husband leans more heavily into the Category #1 characteristics.Connie in Hartwoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09127877285792861166noreply@blogger.com
